Women's Volleyball Shows Fight but Drops Close Contest
Toronto, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies put up a fight on the road but fell in straight sets to Seneca, 25-23, 25-21, 27-25, on Friday night. Despite the loss, the Grizzlies showed resilience, pushing the home side in a tightly contested match.
Emma Kot (Weyburn, SK) led the offensive effort for Georgian with 11 kills and seven service aces, contributing a team-high 19 points. Patrycja Sajda (Scarborough, ON) also had a strong night, adding 11 kills while hitting an efficient .310. Setter Mackenzie Roy (Edmonton, AB) played a key role in facilitating the attack, finishing with 21 assists and three service aces, while also tallying 15 digs on defense.
Defensively, the Grizzlies put up a solid effort, recording 50 digs as a team, with Roy and Cassidy McClenaghan (Whitby, ON) each reaching 15. The squad also held its own at the net, with five solo blocks across the match.
Though Georgian was unable to come away with a win, they showed grit, particularly in a back-and-forth third set that pushed Seneca to extra points.
