Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball player Carina Brooks was recognized for her tremendous first season at the banquet for the 2020 OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship hosted by Canadore College.
The announcement took place Wednesday night at the championship banquet in North Bay.
Brooks was named the OCAA women's volleyball rookie of the year while also being named an east division first-team all-star. She was also named to the OCAA east division all-rookie team and the east division rookie of the year.
The Caledon native made an immediate impact on the Grizzlies team this season as she finished first on the team in kills (182), digs (125), and in points (225).
She was also second on Georgian in aces with 35 and third in blocks with eight. Her 3.5 points-per-set average placed her in tie for sixth overall in the OCAA while also finishing fifth overall in kills.
The Grizzlies season unfortunately came to an end last weekend when they fell to the Niagara Knights in the crossover playoff game to reach the provincial championship.
