Women's Basketball Overwhelms George Brown in Stellar Team Effort
Toronto, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies secured a decisive 68-31 victory over the George Brown Huskies on November 22, 2024, at Casa Loma. From the opening whistle, Georgian set the tone with stifling defense, shutting out the Huskies in the first quarter to take a commanding 19-0 lead. Their relentless defensive pressure and ability to capitalize on turnovers defined the game, as the Grizzlies forced 23 turnovers and held George Brown to just 18.5% shooting from the field. By halftime, the Grizzlies had extended their lead to 32-6, leaving little doubt about the outcome.
Offensively, Georgian demonstrated impressive depth and teamwork. Daija Thompson (Whitby, ON) led the charge with a standout double-double performance, recording 14 points and 14 rebounds. Kory Hook (Barrie, ON) and Ami May (Raymond, AB) each added 13 points, with May also contributing seven rebounds and five assists. Lily Roberts-Neef (St. Thomas, ON) anchored the backcourt with 11 points, five rebounds, and four steals, while Sydney Shawyer (Horseshoe Valley, ON) chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.
