Barrie, ON -- Grizzlies fall to Algonquin wolves 67-54, lose first game of season.
From the start of the game, Algonquin had the hot hand, scoring 21 points in the first quarter compared to Georgian's 9 points. The lead continued to grow in the second quarter, with Algonquin adding 13 points to their tally, while Georgian managed to score only 11 points.
Algonquin's strong performance continued in the third quarter, where they added 19 points to their score, while Georgian struggled to find their rhythm, only scoring 8 points. However, Georgian made a comeback in the final quarter, scoring 26 points, but it was not enough to close the gap.
On the Georgian side, Ami May (Raymond, AB) was the leading scorer, contributing 19 points to the team's total. Janella Viado (Milton, ON) also had a strong performance, adding 17 points to Georgian's score.
Overall, despite a strong comeback attempt by Georgian in the final quarter, Algonquin's lead was too much.
