Men's Basketball Catch Fire in Second Quarter, Eliminate Condors
BARRIE, ON -- In a thrilling opening round of the OCAA men's basketball playoffs, the Georgian Grizzlies overcame a slow start to defeat the Conestoga Condors 99-86, on Michele McConney Court. Trailing 28-19 after the first quarter, the Grizzlies rallied with a dominant 39-point second quarter, securing a 58-56 lead by halftime. They maintained their momentum in the second half, outscoring the Condors 41-30.
Trey Wilson (Barrie, ON) led the Grizzlies with an impressive 27 points, shooting 10-for-18 from the field and 4-for-10 from beyond the arc. Uzziah Glasgow (Vaughan, ON) contributed 14 points, displaying perfect accuracy from both the field (4-for-8) and the free-throw line (5-for-5). Luc Tourigny (Barrie, ON) provided a spark off the bench, adding 14 points, including four three-pointers. The Grizzlies showcased efficient shooting, finishing the game at 50.7% from the field and 69.6% from the free-throw line.
With this victory, the Grizzlies advance to the quarterfinals and are set to host the Sheridan Bruins on February 22 at 3:30 PM. A win would secure their spot in the men's basketball Final Four, bringing them one step closer to the championship title.
