Men's Basketball Hold Off Seneca in Gritty Win
BARRIE, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies held off a late push from the Seneca Sting to secure a 69-66 victory on home court. Georgian set the tone early, edging out a narrow two-point lead after the first quarter before extending it to six at the half. A balanced offensive attack and strong defensive presence helped the Grizzlies maintain control despite Seneca’s attempts to close the gap in the final minutes.
Jason Sache (Kanata, ON) led the charge with a team-high 15 points, adding six rebounds and a steal in 24 minutes of play. Sean Marseille (Paris, FR) chipped in 11 points, while Uzziah Glasgow (Vaughan, ON) contributed 10, sinking six of his eight free throw attempts to help keep Georgian ahead. Off the bench, Zere Christie (Cookstown, ON) provided a valuable spark, notching nine points and three assists.
While the Grizzlies struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 16% of their three-point attempts, they found success at the free-throw line, converting 19-of-28. On the defensive end, Georgian forced 22 Seneca turnovers, capitalizing on key stops to keep the visitors from gaining momentum.
With the win, the Grizzlies continue to solidify their position in the OCAA standings. They’ll look to carry this momentum into their next matchup as they push toward the postseason.
