Grizzlies fall to Sting in closely competitive contest
BARRIE, ON -- Georgian falls to Seneca, 82-78 in closely competitive contest, with both teams putting up a strong fight.
In the first quarter, Georgian took an early lead, scoring 24 points compared to Seneca's 17. However, Seneca fought back in the second quarter, to tie the game at halftime. The third quarter saw Seneca score 19 and a significant drop in scoring from Georgian, only producing 10 points. This gave Seneca a comfortable lead heading into the final quarter. Although Georgian made a comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, outscoring Seneca 17-21, it was not enough to secure the win.
Georgian's Kevonte Anderson (Toronto, ON) led the team with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Janko Lam (Markham, ON) contributed 14 points as well playing a signicifant role in his first start of the season. Gabriel Obusan (Mississauga, ON) and Uzziah Glasgow (Vaughan, ON) also made significant contributions, scoring 7 and 13 points respectively.
Both teams struggled with three-point shooting, with Seneca shooting 34.6% from beyond the arc and Georgian shooting 25.6%. However, Georgian had a strong performance from the free-throw line, shooting 88.9% compared to Seneca's 53.6%.
Overall, it was an exciting and closely contested game between Seneca and Georgian. Seneca's strong performance in the third quarter ultimately gave them the edge.
