MEN'S BASKETBALL WIN TIGHT MATCH-UP AGAINST CENTENNIAL
Daniel Martyn and the Grizzlies pulled together a huge win Thursday night defeating the Colts 90-85.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team played arguably their best game of the season on Thursday night when they hosted the Centennial Colts at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
The game was a nail-biter. The Grizzlies came out to a great start to grab an early lead, but the previously undefeated Colts were able to pull things close getting within one point late in the fourth quarter.
It was Georgian who showed great resiliency late in the contest making some key buckets to hold on for an impressive 90-85 victory.
Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) had a huge game for the Grizzlies scoring a game-high 28 points including making all eight of his free throws and leading the team with six rebounds.
Teammate Anthony Meggo (Whitby) had another solid game with 20 points. Meggo has had double-digit totals in points in each of the Grizzlies six games this season.
The win brings the Grizzlies back to .500 on the season with a 3-3 record as they currently sit in fifth place in the OCAA east division standings.
The Grizzlies will play their next game when they travel to take on the Fleming Knights next Saturday, Nov. 17.
