WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL’S SEASON COME TO END WITH PLAYOFF LOSS
Kelsey Watson had 10 points but it wasn't enough as the Grizzlies fell 3-1 to the St. Clair Saints in an OCAA crossover playoff game.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team travelled to Windsor for an OCAA crossover playoff game against the St. Clair Saints with a berth to the provincial championships on the line on Saturday night.
The sixth seeded Grizzlies knew they would have their hands full with the west division's third seeded Saints.
Georgian came out of the gate strong showing no fear as the underdog to take the first set 25-22.
After St. Clair took the second set 25-17, the two teams battled hard back and forth in the third set.
The Grizzlies had the Saints on the ropes but were unable to close them out as St. Clair came back to take the set in extra points 27-25.
The third set loss was too much for the Grizzlies to overcome as the Saints took the fourth set 25-13 to win the match 3-1.
The Grizzlies once again had a big effort from Kelsey Watson (Barrie) who had eight kills, one ace and one block while teammate Camryn Morgan (Barrie) also had a 10 point game with eight kills and two aces.
Georgian will now shift their focus to having a strong off-season as they will begin their 2018-19 OCAA regular season in October.
