WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SEASON COMES TO END WITH PLAYOFF LOSS
Katharyn Avery had a team-high 31 assists but the Grizzlies fell 3-1 to the Cambrian Golden Shield on Sunday.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team played their biggest game of the season on Sunday afternoon when they hosted the Cambrian Golden Shield in an OCAA playoff game at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
The biggest (and loudest) crowd of the year was on hand to cheer on the Grizzlies but Cambrian had other plans for Georgian's provincial hopes.
The red-hot Golden Shield had won five games in a row coming in to make the playoffs and they kept that momentum going defeating the Grizzlies 3-1 (25-16, 17-25, 25-14, 25-22).
Cambrian will now advance to the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect next weekend hosted by St. Clair College in Windsor, ON.
Quinn McGregor (Lindsay) led the Grizzlies with 12 kills while Katharyn Avery (Barrie) had 31 assists and nine digs in her final career game with Georgian.
Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, their season comes to an end but it was a successful season for Georgian that saw the team finish third in the OCAA East Division during the regular season.
