Kingston, ON -- Grizzlies pull away early and coast, defeat St. Lawrence 78-55. Georgian maintain their undefeated record with a 5-0 record.
The first quarter saw Georgian take an early lead, outscoring St. Lawrence 24-12. St. Lawrence struggled to find their rhythm and were unable to keep up with Georgian's offensive ability. The second quarter followed a similar pattern, with Georgian extending their lead to 38-24 at halftime. Janella Viado (Milton, ON) led all scorers with 10 points at the end of the first half.
Georgian continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring St. Lawrence 40-31.
Overall, Georgian displayed a balanced offensive attack, with every starter scoring in double-digits. Viado finished with 18, followed by Ami May (Raymond, AB) with 16 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds, Lily Roberts-Neef (St. Thomas, ON) with 14 points, Kory Hook (Barrie, ON) with 13 points, and Kyanna Thompson (Barrie, ON) finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Their defence was also impressive, forcing 46 turnovers. Viado and Hook led the Grizzlies with 6 steals each.
The win for Georgian solidifies their position as a dominant force in their conference, claiming first place in the east division. They will look to continue their winning streak and maintain their unbeaten record as they visit Loyalist College tomorrow afternoon.
