Grizzlies escape Loyalist 73-71, keep winning streak alive
Belleville, ON -- Georgian narrowly defeated Loyalist with a final score of 73-71 in a close game.
The first quarter saw a strong start from the Grizzlies, who scored 21 points compared to Loyalist's 17. However, Loyalist fought back in the second quarter, outscoring Georgian 22-14. Kory Hook (Barrie, ON) led the way for Georgian scoring 17 on five made three-pointers in the first half. The Grizzlies entered halftime trailing Loyalist 39-35.
Georgian managed to outscore Loyalist by two points in the third quarter, bringing the score to 51-53 with 10 minutes to play. Georgian stretched the lead to 72-61 with three minutes left, but Loyalist cut that lead to one with 22 seconds left. Hook made a free throw to push the lead to two. Georgian locked down on defense for the remaining few seconds of the game to secure the win.
Grizzlies' Hook was the standout player of the game, contributing 27 points, including eight three-pointers. Lily Roberts-Neef (St. Thomas, ON) and Janella Viado (Milton, ON) also made significant contributions with 9 points each. The Grizzlies displayed a strong defensive performance, recording 11 steals and 5 blocks.
Georgian's undefeated record remains intact thanks to the strong performance from Hook showcasing her skills and impact on the floor.
