WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CAN'T BEAT FIRST PLACE THUNDER
Chelsey Lees and the Grizzlies battled hard but couldn't beat the east's top team in the Thunder falling 70-32 on Saturday.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team hosted their annual Bell Let's Talk Game on Saturday afternoon as they took on the Algonquin Thunder at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
Everyone in attendance got some thunder sticks to "make some noise" for mental health along with some other great prizes up for grabs.
The Grizzlies were in tough against the first place leading Thunder.
Georgian battled hard throughout the game but were unable to catch the Thunder as Algonquin pulled away for a 70-32 victory.
Kelsey Dunkeld (Barrie) led the Grizzlies in scoring with 10 points and had 10 rebounds as she earned her fifth double-double of the season.
Teammate Katie Murray (Lucknow) had a team high 13 rebounds, her highest total this season.
The Grizzlies will next head out on the road as they take on the Durham Lords on Friday, Feb. 1 in Oshawa.
Georgian will play their next home games on Friday, Feb. 8 when they host the Seneca Sting with the women's game beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.
Tickets for the double-header are available at the doors for $5 at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
