WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RETURN TO THE PLAYOFFS
The Grizzlies will travel to face the Fanshawe Falcons on Saturday for their first playoff appearance in six seasons.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team has climbed a big hill this season and they have put themselves in a playoff matchup when they travel to face the Fanshawe Falcons this Saturday at 1 p.m.
This is the first time the Grizzlies have made the playoffs since the 2011 season.
That year the Grizzlies ironically hosted the same Fanshawe Falcons they will face this Saturday. Georgian won that game 70-58 and advanced to the 2011 OCAA Women's Basketball Championship that year before falling to Humber in the quarter-finals.
Georgian will be the underdogs on Saturday on the road, but the Grizzlies shouldn't be counted out.
They wrapped up the regular season on a high by defeating the Durham Lords to put them into the playoff position. It was one of many examples of the team's determination this year.
Plus they also have last week's OCAA women's basketball athlete of the week in Hannah Pearsall.
Pearsall had a game-high 21 points in that game against Durham while grabbing 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists. She finished the regular season in seventh in the OCAA in points-per-game with 18.4.
