GEORGIAN TO HOST 2018 OCAA MEN’S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Athletic Centre on the Georgian College Barrie campus will host the 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championships in Feb. 2018.
The Georgian College Athletic Department is pleased to announce that they have successfully bid to host the 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship from Feb. 22-24, 2018 at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie, ON.
The 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship will bring together the top eight college teams from across Ontario to determine the provincial champions over three days of competition. Georgian will automatically qualify for one of those spots as the host team.
This past season's Grizzlies team had their most successful year to date as they went undefeated during the regular season with an 18-0 record, finishing as OCAA East Division Champions and qualifying for the provincial championship.
With a strong core of returning players, the Grizzlies have their eyes set on once again being a championship calibre team.
"We are honoured to have been chosen as the hosts for the Men's Volleyball Championship," said Manager of Athletics Michele McConney. "We look forward to showcasing our facilities and welcoming the over 100 athletes who will compete next February in one of the OCAA's premier events."
Georgian previously hosted the OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship in 2014 and are coming off a year in which they hosted the very successful OCAA Golf Championships and the OCAA Badminton Championships.
Ticket packages for the Championship will be available for all games with more details announced in the coming months. The Grizzlies men's volleyball regular season will get underway in October.
