GRIZZLIES MEN’S VOLLEYBALL FALL JUST SHORT OF A MEDAL
The Grizzlies put up a good fight but fell 3-0 to the Fanshawe Falcons in the bronze medal match of the OCAA Championship
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team played in the bronze medal game of the 2017 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect against the Fanshawe Falcons on Saturday in Hamilton, ON.
For the second straight day the Grizzlies faced a team ahead of them in the national rankings.
The Falcons were too much for the Grizzlies as Georgian fell 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-23). The Grizzlies battled right until the very end as they showed their resiliency all season.
Liam Gray (Barrie) was named as Georgian's player of the game with 18 assists, nine digs and a pair of service aces.
Despite of falling short of a medal at provincials, the Grizzlies had an incredible season that saw them set a school record by going 18-0 in the regular season along with a quarter-final victory to put them in the final four at the OCAA Championship. The team only dropped a league-low nine sets during the regular season and in the end their only two loses on the year came to the eventual gold and bronze medal winners.
Georgian will be looking to win that elusive first ever medal in men's volleyball next season and with the majority of the team returning, the Grizzlies will be in a position of strength going forward.
