LIAM GRAY ALL-CANADIAN, FOUR GRIZZLIES ALL-STARS
Men's volleyball players Liam Gray, Darien Haynes, Adam Bielby and Justin Burke were named OCAA first team and second team all-stars.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team was recognized with several individual award winners at the start of the 2017 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect hosted by Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON.
Second year setter Liam Gray was named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian.
Gray continued to establish himself as one of the elite players in the nation this year with his high skill level and versatility on the court. The Barrie, ON native finished the regular season in second place in the OCAA with 34 service aces, fifth in assists with 552 and 24th in digs with 94.
Gray along with fellow Barrie native Darien Haynes were both named OCAA East Division First-Team All-Stars.
Haynes led the entire OCAA with 61 blocks this season while also finishing 17th in the OCAA this season with 205 points.
Adam Bielby (Barrie) and Justin Burke (Barrie) were also named OCAA East Division Second-Team All-Stars.
Bielby had arguably his finest season to date leading the Grizzlies in scoring with 232 points which put him 5th in the OCAA. He also finished third in service aces with 31 and 13th in kills with 180.
Burke finished second in the OCAA with 159 digs while demonstrating he was among the elite libero's in the league.
All four winners helped lead the Grizzlies to their first ever perfect season that saw them go 18-0 during the regular season and finish as OCAA East Division Champions.
