Grizzlies men's volleyball continue strong play at Niagara
Georgian went a perfect 3-0 in the round robin at the Niagara College Invitational tournament this past weekend. The Grizzlies went on to finish in second place.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team competed at the Niagara College tournament this past weekend in Welland, ON.
The Grizzlies posted a perfect record through the round robin with a 3-0 win over Fleming (25-17, 25-21, 25-18), a 3-1 win over St. Clair (25-20, 21-25, 25-23, 25-15) and an impressive 3-1 comeback victory over the host Niagara Knights (20-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-15).
Georgian finished first in their pool and faced division rivals the Durham Lords in the finals. The Grizzlies ran out of gas in the final finishing in second place overall at the tournament after losing to the Lords 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-12).
Barrie native Adam Bielby was named as a tournament all-star for his play representing Georgian.
With the tournament out of the way, the Grizzlies will now shift their focus back to their OCAA regular season schedule. Georgian finished the first half of the season with an undefeated 9-0 record and sit in first place in the east division standings.
The Grizzlies resume their schedule this Wednesday, Jan. 11 when they host the Canadore Panthers (3rd, 6-3) at the Georgian Athletic Centre at 8 p.m.
