MEN'S BASKETBALL CONTINUE WINNING WAYS OVER LORDS
Damien Wilson and the Grizzlies had a complete team effort as they defeated the Lords 86-68 on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team hosted the Durham Lords on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies were strong from start to finish with an impressive 86-68 victory over the Lords.
Georgian had four starters with double-digits in points led by Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) and Samuel Odzenma (Mississauga) who had 18 points apiece.
Nikyle Williams-Mcintosh (Newmarket) had a strong game scoring 14 points while leading the team with four three-pointers.
"Once again our half court defence was really locked in for about 28 minutes," said Grizzlies Head Coach Matt Coulson. "If we want to beat the top teams we will need it to be around 38-39 (minutes), but we had a great team effort tonight."
With the win the Grizzlies move to 9-5 on the season and sit in fourth place in the OCAA east division standings.
The Grizzlies will begin a lengthy road stretch starting next weekend against the UTM Eagles followed by games against Algonquin (Feb. 8) and La Cite (Feb. 9).
Georgian will play their final home game of the regular season on Friday, Feb. 14 when they host the Centennial Colts. The women's game gets underway at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.
Tickets for the double-header are available at the doors for $5 each or you can watch online by visiting GeorgianGrizzlies.ca/WatchLive.
