FOURTH QUARTER COSTS GRIZZLIES AGAINST LANCERS
Jacob Edwards had a team-high 19 points but the Grizzlies fell to the Lancers 72-63 on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team hosted the Loyalist Lancers on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
After playing with a slight lead for most of the game it was a tough fourth quarter for the Grizzlies, which cost them the game.
The Lancers outscored the Grizzlies 24-12 in the final frame to take the victory 72-63.
Despite the loss, the Grizzlies had a good effort from Jacob Edwards (Barrie) who scored a team-high 19 points. Edwards has now averaged 20 points-per-game over his last two contests.
Teammates Nikyle Williams-Mcintosh (Newmarket) also had 16 points while teammate Samuel Odzenma (Mississauga) had 14 points, for his sixth straight game with double-digits in points.
The loss kept the Grizzlies from gaining ground on the third place Lancers who now hold a 10-2 record on the season and are third in the OCAA east division standings. Georgian are one spot behind in a tie for fourth place with a 7-5 record.
The Grizzlies have a quick turnaround as they will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host the St. Lawrence Vikings. The women's game gets underway at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game at 3 p.m.
Tickets for all Grizzlies home games are available at the doors for $5 or if you can't be in attendance you can watch the game online at GeorgianGrizzlies.ca/WatchLive.
