2019 belairdirect OCAA MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The start of the 2019 belairdirect OCAA Men's Basketball Championship begins this Thursday at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
The top eight teams who will compete at the 2019 belairdirect OCAA Men's Basketball Championship have been determined.
The Championship will be hosted at the Barrie campus of Georgian College from Feb. 28 through Mar. 2 inside the Georgian Athletic Centre
Following this past weekend's OCAA playoff crossover games the final eight teams are set with the Fanshawe Falcons, Humber Hawks, Lambton Lions, Niagara Knights, Redeemer Royals, Seneca Sting, Sheridan Bruins and the host Georgian Grizzlies competing for the Championship.
Last year's defending provincial and national champions, the Seneca Sting enter the tournament as the top seed in the OCAA east division with a 17-3 regular season record. They earned their way to the Championship by defeating the St. Clair Saints 100-78 on Saturday.
The Humber Hawks enter as the number one seed from the OCAA west division as they finished with an 18-2 regular season record. The Hawks were last year's silver medalists at the OCAA Championship and defeated the St. Lawrence Vikings 83-68 on Saturday to earn their spot at this year's Championship.
The Niagara Knights had the most dramatic route to the Championship as they were able to escape with a double-overtime victory over the Loyalist Lancers by a 107-98 score.
The Georgian Grizzlies earned a direct bye to the Championship as the event's host.
The Championship kicks off with four quarter-finals match-ups on Thursday, Feb. 28 beginning at 1 p.m.
The host Georgian Grizzlies will open their tournament on Thursday night when they take on the Humber Hawks at 8 p.m.
Friday's schedule features the two championship and two consolation semi-finals games with the tournament concluding on Saturday with the consolation final at 12:05 p.m., the bronze medal game at 2 p.m. and the gold medal championship final taking place at 5:05 p.m.
Ticket packages for the 2019 belairdirect OCAA Men's Basketball Championship are available on site at the Georgian Athletic Centre with tournament packages for all three-days available for $20 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. Individual day passes for each day of the Championship are available for $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors. Children 12 years old and under will be admitted for free.

Rogers TV Barrie will air the majority of the Championship live with Thursday's two prime time evening games being the only tape delayed broadcasts which will air Friday morning at 9 & 11 a.m.
