GRIZZLIES GOLFERS HAVE STRONG SHOWING AT GEORGIAN INVITATIONAL
Jeff Ash and Brady Zordan led the way for the Grizzlies finishing tied for second individually with matching scores of 71 on Thursday.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's golf team hosted eight of the top teams at their own Invitational on Thursday at the Heritage Hills Golf Club in Shanty Bay.
The Grizzlies had a strong showing from veteran golfers Jeff Ash (Barrie) and Brady Zordan (Midhurst). The duo posted matching scores of 71 to finish in a tie for second place individually.
They were joined by teammates Graham Port (Ajax) who shot 75, Griffin MacVicar (Barrie) 76 and Anthony Gognavec (Parry Sound) 78 in helping the group to a combined score of 293 to finish in second place in the team competition.
Austin Morrison (Lloydminster, AB) had the top score of the Grizzlies second team entry shooting a round of 73 to finish in a tie for seventh individually.
The Humber Hawks finished in first place in the men's team competition with a combined score of 290, while the Fanshawe Falcons finished in first place on the women's side.
Ryan Trapp of the Durham Lords finished in first place of the men's individual competition shooting a round of 70 while Alyssa Stoddart of the Fanshawe Falcons won the women's individual title shooting an 85.
The Grizzlies will continue their busy season as they will play in the Niagara Invitational on Monday, Sept. 24. That will be the final tune-up for the Grizzlies prior to the OCAA Championships which takes place Oct. 1-3 in London.
