BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS WRAP UP, GRIZZLIES WIN BRONZE
Georgian's men's doubles team of Eric Kern & Ethan Zhao took home the bronze medal
Georgian College was host to some tremendous athleticism over the last two days as it hosted the 2017 OCAA Badminton Championships at the Barrie campus.
The top student-athletes put on an impressive show of skill, agility and speed in each of the five disciplines.
Owen Kurvits of Redeemer University College medaled for the fourth straight year, winning his third gold medal in men's singles. Humber College's Olivia Lei became the reigning three-time OCAA gold medalist in women's singles.
Humber was also the winners in men's doubles as the team of Ryan Chow and Adam Dong repeated their gold medal performance from last year to go along with the women's doubles team of Phuthita Nilyok & Chloe Rowe who earned the top spot.
Vinson Wong & Yan Zhou from Seneca College were the winners of the mixed doubles competition.
Humber College won the team competition on both the men's and women's sides.
The Grizzlies came away with some hardware as well as the men's doubles team of Ethan Zhao and Eric Kern earned the bronze medal.
The gold and silver medal winners from each discipline have earned a spot in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Badminton Championships which take place Mar. 9 -11 hosted by Seneca College in Toronto, ON.
