Grizzlies badminton show well in final tune-up

The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's badminton teams competed at the St. Clair College Open this past weekend in Windsor, ON.

The tournament was the team's final preparation prior to the OCAA Regionals which are fast approaching and the signs are good for Georgian as they continue to build towards a big finish.

Tammy Do made the quarterfinals in the women's singles event and also had a great run with teammate Phillip Bruce in the mixed doubles event making it all the way to the quarterfinals.

The men's doubles team of Eric Kern and Ethan Zhao had some great chemistry making it all the way to the finals of the B division, only coming up short of the title by a few points.

The Grizzlies will be hoping for a good showing at the OCAA Regionals with provincial berths on the line when they head to Boreal College in Sudbury on Feb. 3 & 4.

Georgian will host the 2017 OCAA Badminton Championships at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie on Feb. 17 & 18 which will bring together the top collegiate badminton players in the province.
