Grizzlies secure top seed in the West Division with Battle of the Bears win
BARRIE, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies faced the Sheridan Bruins in the Battle of the Bears saturday afternoon at J.C. Massie Field. The Grizzlies started their dominance in the first minutes of the game taking a quick 12-0 lead.
James Robb-Kennedy (Barrie, ON) seemed to always be in the right place at the right time. Robb-Kennedy scored two hard fought tries for the Grizzlies after collecting the ball and putting his head down meters from the try-line. The Grizzlies finished the first half with the lead.
Halfway through the second half Sheridan’s fatigue started to set in, resulting with a turnover in their defensive end. Matt Turco (Aurora, ON) made them pay for it with an easy scoop and score on the sideline. The Grizzlies defeat the Bruins 32-12 winning the Battle of the Bears, securing first place in the west division and a first round bye in the 2023 OCAA Men’s Rugby Playoffs.
The Grizzlies return to action on Saturday, November 4 vs. the winner of the St. Lawrence and Conestoga quarter final matchup.
