WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALL IN TIGHT MATCH TO CENTENNIAL
Kelsey Watson had a team-high 18 points but it wasn't enough as the Grizzlies fell 3-1 to the Centennial Colts on Saturday.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted the Centennial Colts on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
Tthe Grizzlies battled hard in a tight game but it wasn't enough against the Colts.
After having Centennial on the ropes in the first set, Georgian let set point slip away as the Colts rallied to take the set 26-24. The Grizzlies came back to take the second set 25-22 but that was as close as they got.
Centennial took the final two sets 25-19 and 25-20 to win the match 3-1.
Kelsey Watson (Barrie) had an excellent game scoring 18 points thanks to a team-high 16 kills. Rookie Alyssa Muller (Whitby) had the highest scoring game of her young career with 12 points including a team-high seven aces.
The loss drops the Grizzlies to 5-6 on the season and they currently sit in fifth place in the OCAA east division standings.
The Grizzlies will hit the road for their next three games when they face Canadore, Seneca and Durham.
Georgian's next home game will take place on Friday, Feb. 1 when they host the Algonquin Thunder with the women's game starting at 6 p.m. and the men's following at 8 p.m.
