WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEP LANCERS IN TIGHT SETS
Domenica De Francesco had a season high 19 points from 15 kills and four aces as the Grizzlies defeated the Lancers 3-0.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted the Loyalist Lancers on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies had a resilient team effort sweeping the Lancers in three tight sets 3-0 with set scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-22.
Domenica De Franceso (Barrie) had the best game of her young career, as the rookie scored a career high 19 points from 15 kills and four aces.
Teammates Alandria Czerkas (Sudbury) was solid with nine kills and Sophia Clement (Toronto) had 25 assists in the win.
Georgian improved their record to 2-1 on the season.
Next up for the women's volleyball team is an eastern road trip to Ottawa to face the Algonquin Thunder on Nov. 2 followed by a match against the La Cite Coyotes on Nov. 3.
The Grizzlies will play their next home game on Wednesday, Nov. 14 when they host the Durham Lords. The women's game begins at 6 p.m. with the men's game following at 8 p.m.
