MEN'S VOLLEYBALL GETS STUNG BY STING
The Grizzlies dropped just their second game of the season as Seneca defeated Georgian 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in King City.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team travelled to take on the Seneca Sting on Saturday afternoon in King City, ON.
It was a tough battle for the Grizzlies.
Seneca kept Georgian on their toes throughout as they were able to pull off the upset defeating the Grizzlies 3-1 with set scores of 25-22, 14-25, 25-18 and 25-23.
It was yet another big game for Georgian's Darien Haynes.
The Barrie native had a team-high 16 points in the game from eight kills, six blocks and two aces. He finished one point away from hitting his 1,000th career point and just two blocks back from setting a new all-time record for blocks in the OCAA with 252.
Liam Gray (Barrie) continues to be on milestone watch as he recorded another ace in the game leaving him seven back of the all-time OCAA single season record for aces.
The loss gives the Grizzlies an 11-2 record on the season but they continue to lead the OCAA east division standings, two wins up on the La Cite Coyotes.
The Grizzlies will play their game when they travel to take on the Durham Lords next Thursday, Jan. 24.
Georgian's next home game will take place on Friday, Feb. 1 when they host the Algonquin Thunder with the women's game starting at 6 p.m. and the men's following at 8 p.m.
