MEN'S VOLLEYBALL BOUNCE BACK AGAINST LORDS
The Grizzlies dominated from beginning to end, sweeping Durham 3-0 on Wednesday night at the Athletic Centre.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team hosted the Durham Lords on Wednesday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies had a big bounce back game after suffering their first loss of the season a week and a half ago.
Georgian came out on fire and led the game from beginning to end, sweeping the Lords 3-0 with set scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-18.
Bowen Mitton had a big game for Georgian. The native of Australia had a career high 15 points from a team-high 11 kills and four aces.
Darien Haynes (Barrie) was also strong with 10 kills and three blocks while Erich Perau (Peterborough) had 11 points.
Liam Gray continued his fine season as he added to his league leading ace total with another five in the game. The Barrie native now has 34 aces on the season, 11 more than the next competitor.
Gray also had 38 assists in the game and he leads the entire OCAA averaging 10.76 assists-per-set.
The Grizzlies are now 5-1 on the season and they sit in a tie for first place in the OCAA east division standings.
Georgian will be back in action next Wednesday, Nov. 21 when they host the George Brown Huskies at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
The women's game gets underway at 6 p.m. with the men's game following at 8 p.m. Tickets for the game are available at the doors for $5.
