WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL IMPRESS AGAINST STING
Carina Brooks led the Grizzlies to a 3-1 victory over the Sting scoring a team high 17 points at the Georgian Athletic Centre on Wednesday night.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted the Seneca Sting on Wednesday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies were strong to start the night.
Georgian opened by taking the game's first two sets. In the third set, the Sting were able make a comeback to take it in extra points, but the Grizzlies responded in set four to win the match 3-1.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-18, 24-26 and 25-21.
Carina Brooks (Caledon) continued to impress as the rookie led the Grizzlies in scoring with 17 points from 13 kills and four aces. Brooks is currently tied for 7th in the OCAA averaging 3.5 points-per-set as well as leading the Grizzlies in scoring this season.
Teammate Carolyn Cooper (Mississauga) was also strong scoring 14 points from 12 kills, along with an ace and a block giving her double-digits in points in back-to-back games.
The win improved the Grizzlies record to 8-4 and they sit in fourth place in the OCAA east division standings.
Georgian will be back in action this Saturday, Jan. 25 when they host the Loyalist Lancers at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
