WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL WRAP REGULAR SEASON, PLAYOFFS SET
Alandria Czerkas led the Grizzlies in scoring with six kills and six blocks but the team fell 3-1 to La Cite.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team finished off their 2017-18 OCAA regular season on Sunday afternoon against the La Cite Coyotes in Ottawa.
It was a tough game for Georgian.
The Grizzlies had a good start taking the first set but ran out of steam after that, dropping the next three sets to lose 3-1 (16-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-19).
Alandria Czerkas (Sudbury) led the team in scoring with 12 points (6 kills, 6 blocks) while Sophia Clement (Toronto) had 23 assists.
The loss gave the Grizzlies a final record of 9-9 in the regular season and they will finish in sixth place in the OCAA east division.
This sets up a playoff match next Saturday night, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. where the Grizzlies will travel to Windsor to face the St. Clair Saints, who finished in third place in the west division standings with a 13-5 record. The winner of that match will advance to the 2018 OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect hosted by Centennial College in Scarborough from Feb. 22-24.
