WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team came back strong defeating the George Brown Huskies in straight sets 3-0.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team had a big night on Wednesday when they hosted the George Brown Huskies at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
It was a special game night as Georgian joined teams from across the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in recognizing Bell Let's Talk Day. It was also Georgian's final regular season home games for this season and there was a special pre-game ceremony recognizing the team's graduating veterans.
The Grizzlies ended a four-game losing skid in impressive fashion.
Georgian dominated the Huskies to take the win in straight sets 3-0 with scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-20.
Graduating veteran Kathryn Marks (Innisfil) had one of her best games of the season leading the Grizzlies in kills (8), blocks (4) and in aces (3).
Camryn Morgan (Barrie) was solid once again with seven kills and an ace while Alandria Czerkas (Sudbury) had six kills, two aces and two blocks in the win.
It was a big win for the Grizzlies as it gets them back over the .500 mark with an 8-7 record. They currently sit in sixth place in the OCAA east division standings.
The Grizzlies will finish their regular season with three games on the road. First against the Canadore Panthers (Feb. 6), followed by a weekend road trip to Ottawa to face the Algonquin Thunder (Feb. 10) and the La Cite Coyotes (Feb. 11).
