WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COME CLOSE BUT CAN'T KNOCK OFF LANCERS
Quinn McGregor spikes the ball on way to her team leading 12 kills but the Grizzlies fall 3-1 to the Lancers
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted the Loyalist Lancers on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie, ON.
The Grizzlies had a great effort and pushed hard on the OCAA east division's top team in the Lancers.
In what was an incredibly tight match the Lancers were able to escape with a 3-1 victory with set scores of 26-24, 21-25, 30-28 and 25-18.
Sophia Clement (Toronto) had a spectacular game serving as she registered seven aces while also posting 45 assists and 14 digs.
Quinn McGregor (Lindsay) had a team high 12 kills while also registering an ace. The fourth year veteran leads the Grizzlies this season with 128 points.
The loss puts the Grizzlies back to .500 on the season with a 7-7 record where they sit in sixth place in the OCAA east division standings.
The Grizzlies volleyball teams will be hosting a big night this coming Wednesday, Jan. 31 when they host the George Brown Huskies at 6 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
Georgian will be hosting a special Bell Let's Talk night which will feature tons of great prizes and giveaways while promoting mental health awareness.
It will be the final home game of the Grizzlies regular season schedule and their will also be a special pre-game ceremony recognizing the graduating student-athletes.
Tickets for the double-header of games are available at the doors for $5 each. Students can pick up tickets in advance for free at the Athletic Centre front desk.
