WOMEN'S INDOOR SOCCER JUST MISS ON PROVINCIAL BERTH
Georgian went 1-2-0 in Group C of the OCAA Regionals on Wednesday in Toronto. They came up just short of making it to the OCAA Championships.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's indoor soccer team competed at the OCAA Group C Regionals on Wednesday hosted by Seneca College in Toronto.
The Grizzlies competed in a pool of four teams with the top two finishing teams in the pool will move on to the OCAA Championships which takes place Mar. 22-24 hosted by Redeemer University College in Ancaster.
Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, it wasn't their day. The women's team battled hard, but some tough breaks cost them their opportunity to move on.
In their first game against the Centennial Colts it was a penalty kick that was the difference in a 1-0 loss for Georgian. In their second match they faced the St. Lawrence Vikings and held a one-goal lead, but a late comeback by the Vikings resulted in a 2-1 loss.
Georgian showed their resilience in the third game as they pulled off an impressive 3-2 victory over the Seneca Sting, who ended up finishing first in the pool.
It wasn't enough as the Grizzlies were unable to crack the top two in their pool and their season came to an end.
The women's team will now shift their focus to a strong off-season. With a young roster, the Grizzlies will look to grow on the season that was with many returnees next season.
