WOMEN'S INDOOR SOCCER BATTLE TO SEMI-FINALS BERTH
The Georgian Grizzlies women's indoor soccer team had a great run Thursday going a total of 3-2 at the George Brown Tournament
The Georgian Grizzlies women's indoor soccer team played their second tournament of the season at the George Brown Invitational on Thursday in Vaughan, ON.
Georgian had an incredible run at the tournament.
The Grizzlies opened with back-to-back wins, first defeating the Lakehead-Orillia Thunderwolves 2-1 to open the tournament followed by an impressive 4-0 win over the St. Lawrence-Brockville Schooners.
Georgian then wrapped up their round robin with a close 2-0 loss to the host George Brown Huskies to place them second in their pool.
The Grizzlies then went onto to win a tight match in the quarter-finals over the St. Lawrence-Kingston Vikings. The match finished regulation time tied at 1-1 and the Grizzlies pushed through to win the match on penalty kicks.
In the semi-finals, penalty kicks again were needed to decide the result. The Grizzlies and Fanshawe Falcons went scoreless in regulation but this time the penalties didn't go Georgian's way as they fell 1-0.
Georgian will play their next games when they host their own home tournament on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Bradford Sports Dome in Bradford, ON. That will be the Grizzlies final tune-up before they compete in the OCAA regionals hosted by Seneca College on Mar. 7.
