Women's basketball can't shut down Colts
Katrina Kerekesch had 11 points for the Grizzlies but it wasn't enough as they fell 70-58 to Centennial
The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team travelled to face the Centennial Colts on Friday night in Toronto, ON in an important game with playoff implications.
Unfortunately for the Grizzlies after leading at halftime, the Colts offence caught fire scoring 43 points in the second half alone leading to a 70-58 win for Centennial.
Leah Bracken (St. Catherines) led the Grizzlies in scoring with 17 points while Katrina Kerekesch (Dundas) had 11 points and Keshia Jacques (Owen Sound) was the other double-digit scorer with 10 points on the night.
It was a tough loss for the Grizzlies as it keeps them just one win up on the George Brown Huskies for the sixth and final playoff spot in the OCAA east division. However, George Brown has two games in hand on the Grizzlies with four games remaining compared to Georgian's two left on the schedule.
This sets up a big match up on Tuesday, Feb. 7 as the Grizzlies will travel to face the George Brown Huskies which will likely determine who gets in that final playoff spot.
