Grizzlies women's basketball win with huge comeback
The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team erased a 12-point halftime deficit to pick up their first victory of the season against Algonquin
The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team found a way to get the job done as they took on the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday in the nation's capital.
Georgian didn't come out of the gate strong trailing by 12 points going into haltime.
The second half was a different story.
The Grizzlies demonstrated their determination going on a 14-4 run in the third quarter to even up the game with the final 10 minutes to play.
In the end it was a Leah Bracken free throw that would be the difference as the Grizzlies won 57-56. Bracken had a team high 17 points along with teammate Hannah Pearsall.
Keshia Jacques scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half to help the turnaround.
This was the first win for the Grizzlies at Algonquin in their annual road trip since Nov. 15, 2008.
Georgian will look to carry the momentum from their first win of the season into their next game that has them hosting the Centennial Colts this Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
