Grizzlies Evade Lancer's Charge
Grizzlies (11-0) hold off the Lancers (2-9) attack Saturday afternoon.
What Happened: The Georgian Grizzlies Men's Volleyball team charged out of the gate against the Lancers, following the women's match earlier the same afternoon. A strong, aggressive start gave the Grizzlies the advantage early on in the first two sets of the match, putting Loyalist on their heels by taking the first two frames 25-19 and 25-17 respectively. Determined not to let the match end in three, the Lancers regrouped and took another charge at the Grizzlies in the third set which ultimately proved successful, but tight as the Lancers took the third set 25-22. The subsequent fourth set proved to be the final blow that pieced the Lancers' armor as the Grizzlies closed out the match 25-18, taking the match 3-1.
CJ Okeke put on an impressive offensive showing, sending 19 kills(.438 K%) to the Lancers. Josiah Grimm and Gage McCurdy both had 10 kills on the afternoon as well. On Loyalist's side, Pedro Casellatto delivered 16 kills(.433 K%) to Georgian.
What's Next: Grizzlies Women host the Centennial Colts on Wednesday, January 18th at 6PM. at the Georgian College Athletic and Fitness Centre with the men's game set to follow at 8PM.
