MEN'S VOLLEYBALL KNOCK OF LORDS IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE
The Grizzlies defeated the Durham Lords 3-0 on Saturday afternoon as Georgian extended their home unbeaten streak to 36 games.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team played their regular season finale on Saturday afternoon when they hosted the Durham Lords at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
It was a match-up with the top two seeds in the OCAA east division standings with the Lords in first and the Grizzlies in second.
The Grizzlies came out and made a statement as they handed the Lords just their second loss of the season in a 3-0 sweep with set scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-19.
Georgian had big time performances from Cameron Calhoun (Stayner), Gibson Graham (Markham) and Samuel Thorup (St Marys) in the victory.
The Grizzlies finish the regular season with a 15-3 record and they clinch second overall in the OCAA east division standings. Georgian also extended their regular season home winning streak to 36 games as they went a perfect 9-0 at home this season.
Prior to the game, the Grizzlies recognized the achievements of our graduating student-athletes with Hayden Nichol (Guelph), Kaelan Kloetstra (London), Gibson Graham (Markham) and Mike Fors (Uxbridge) who will be moving on following this season.
The Grizzlies will host a cross-over playoff game against a to be determined opponent on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
Georgian's opponents will be announced following the conclusion of the regular season this weekend. The winners of the playoff games will advance to their respective OCAA Championship.
