MEN'S VOLLEYBALL WIN WILD MATCH OVER HUSKIES
The Grizzlies men's volleyball team swept the Huskies 3-0 in a tight match Wednesday night at home.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team hosted the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
It was a tremendous high energy game between the Grizzlies and Huskies.
The first two sets were incredibly tight with Georgian taking them 25-23 in the first and the second, 29-27 in extra points. The Grizzlies then closed out the match by taking the third set 25-18 to sweep the match 3-0.
Cameron Calhoun (Stayner) continued his fine season scoring a team high 19 kills along with two aces for a 21-point game, which matched a season high.
Teammate Gibson Graham (Markham) also made a significant impact with 34 assists, four digs and three kills.
The Grizzlies improved their regular season record to 14-3 and can finish no lower than second place in the OCAA east division standings with one game remaining. Georgian is guaranteed to host a playoff game tentatively scheduled for Feb. 22.
The Grizzlies will host the Durham Lords in their final regular season home game this coming Saturday, Feb. 15. We will be recognizing our graduating student-athletes prior to each game in a special ceremony.
The women's game gets underway at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game which follows at approximately 3 p.m.
