GRIZZLIES SEASON WRAPS UP AT OCAA MEN’S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Jordi Romero led the Grizzlies in scoring with 14 points but they fell in five sets to Conestoga in the consolation final.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team played their final game of the season on Saturday when they took on the Conestoga Condors in the consolation final of the 2019 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship hosted by Humber College in Etobicoke.
It was a back and forth game for both teams as they each laid it on the line with it being the final game of a long season.
The two teams exchanged the first two sets and in the fifth and final deciding tiebreak set it was the Condors who won the match by a mere two points difference, taking the set 15-13 to win the match 3-2.
Set scores were 13-25, 25-20, 13-25, 25-19 and 15-13.
Jordi Romero (Brampton) led the Grizzlies in scoring with a 14 point performance while Darien Haynes (Barrie) was named player of the game in his final game in a Georgian uniform scoring 13 points.
Georgian opened the tournament on Thursday night falling in a tight five set match, 3-2 to Niagara in the quarter-finals. The Grizzlies rebounded on Friday defeating the Mohawk Mountaineers 3-0 to earn a spot in the consolation final against Conestoga.
