MEN'S VOLLEYBALL OPEN WITH IMPRESSIVE SWEEP OVER SENECA
Cameron Calhoun and the Grizzlies won in straight sets defeating the Sting 3-0 on opening night of the season in Barrie.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team played their 2018-19 OCAA regular season home opener on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
A big crowd was on hand to take in the action and they certainly got full value from the home side.
The two-time defending OCAA east division champion Grizzlies showed they will be a force once again this season.
They were very impressive sweeping the match in three straight sets 3-0 by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-18.
Jordi Romero (Brampton) had a team-high 12 points from 10 kills and two aces while teammate Darien Haynes (Barrie) had 11 points. Newcomer Erich Perau (Peterborough) had 10 points in his Georgian debut.
Georgian will be back in action this coming Tuesday, Oct. 23 when they travel to take on the Centennial Colts.
The Grizzlies will play their next home game on Friday, Oct. 26 when they host the Loyalist Lancers with the women's game at 6 p.m. and the men's game at 8 p.m.
Tickets for the game will be available at the doors for $5 each.
