The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team hosted the Fleming Knights on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
The Grizzlies found themselves in unfamiliar territory early as the Knights took the first set 25-18. It's the first time that Georgian has trailed in any game this season.
The home team responded in a big way taking the next three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-20 to win the match 3-1.
Fifth year veteran Jake Edwards (Barrie) had a career high 23 point game with 19 kills and four blocks. Darien Haynes (Barrie) was also excellent with nine kills and five blocks while Liam Gray (Barrie) had 35 assists with three kills and four aces.
The win keeps the Grizzlies undefeated on the season at 7-0 as they sit atop the OCAA east division standings. This week the team was ranked as the number two team in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rankings.
Georgian will wrap up their first half of the season with road games against the Centennial Colts on Nov. 22 and the Seneca Sting on Nov. 29.
The Grizzlies will play their next home game on Thursday, Jan. 11 when they host Centennial at 8 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
