GRIZZLIES SWEEP LORDS ON OPENING NIGHT
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team had a solid match defeating the rival Durham Lords 3-0 on Thursday.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team played their home opener of the 2017/18 OCAA regular season on Thursday night when they hosted the rival Durham Lords at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
Georgian continued their impressive start to the season. After trailing midway through the first set the Grizzlies battled back to take it 25-22. They kept the momentum going after that winning the next two sets 25-20 and 25-17 to sweep the match 3-0.
Ryan DeBruyn (Ottawa) had a solid home debut for the Grizzlies. The fifth-year player led the Grizzlies with 16 points from a team leading 12 kills and four blocks. Returning outside hitter Jordi Romero (Brampton) was good once again posting eight kills and an ace.
Last year's CCAA All-Canadian Liam Gray (Barrie) was excellent with 31 assists.
The Grizzlies will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 28 when they host the Canadore Panthers at 3 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre. Tickets are available at the door for $5.
