MEN'S VOLLEYBALL OPEN STRONG AT LOYALIST
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team opened their season with a 3-0 sweep over Loyalist on Saturday in Belleville.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team opened their 2017-18 OCAA regular seasons on Saturday afternoon when they travelled to face the Loyalist Lancers in Belleville, ON.
Georgian picked up right where they left off last season.
Last year's east division champions started off with a big opening set win that went all the way to a 32-30 score. After capitalizing on the momentum of the first set, the Grizzlies were able to take the next two to sweep Loyalist 3-0 (32-30, 25-18, 25-17).
Fifth year veteran Matt Kerr (Wingham) led the Grizzlies in scoring with 14 points on seven kills, six blocks and an ace. Ryan DeBruyn (Ottawa) showed the big impact he will make joining this year's group leading the team with 9 kills.
The Grizzlies will host their division rivals, the Durham Lords for the home opener on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre. Tickets are available at the door for $5 which includes both the men's and women's volleyball double-header.
