MEN’S INDOOR SOCCER NARROWLY MISSES TRIP TO OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Cesar Regalado and the Grizzlies put up a great effort but fell in the final game to miss out moving on to provincials.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's indoor soccer team competed at the OCAA regionals on Wednesday at the StingDome in Toronto.
The top two teams in each pool following play would move on to the provincial championship.
The Grizzlies had a great start to their day coming away with an impressive 2-0 win over the Durham Lords.
They followed that with a tight competitive game coming up just short, falling 1-0 to the Fanshawe Falcons, who would eventually go on to finish in first place in the pool.
Needing a big win in their next game, the Grizzlies came through to defeat the St. Lawrence Vikings 5-0.
This set up a winner moves on to provincials in the last match up of the day between Georgian and the Conestoga Condors.
Both teams played hard, with the Grizzlies hitting a crossbar, but it was the Condors who were able to score late before adding another in the final minutes to defeat Georgian 2-0.
The Grizzlies had a valiant effort at the tournament but the final loss officially ended the Grizzlies season as they finished regionals with a 2-2 record.
