The Georgian Grizzlies men's indoor soccer teams opened their 2018 OCAA season on Friday when they took part in the Conestoga Invitational Tournament in Kitchener, ON.
The Grizzlies have a fresh look with just five returning players from last year's group.
Georgian played a solid first game winning a thriller 3-2 over the Canadore Panthers on penalty kicks. They then pushed hard but came up on the short end of a 2-0 score to the Conestoga Condors to finish in second place in their pool.
In the third place game the Grizzlies ran out of gas as they fell 4-1 to the Laurier-Brantford Golden Hawks to end the tournament in fourth place.
Georgian will next play at the George Brown Invitational on Thursday, Feb. 1 in Toronto, ON.
The Grizzlies will host their own home tournament on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Bradford Sports Dome in Bradford, ON. That will be Georgian's final tune-up before they compete in the OCAA regionals hosted by Seneca College on Mar. 7.
