MEN'S BASKETBALL PUSH LATE BUT FALL TO HUSKIES
Jacob Edwards and the Grizzlies put up a good effort in the second half but came up short falling 83-77 to the Huskies Wednesday night.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team hosted the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies got off to a good start opening the game on a 7-0 run but then the Huskies took over. George Brown then went on a 29-6 run the rest of the quarter and held a 14 point lead at halftime.
In the second half the Grizzlies reset and put up a good effort narrowing the lead to just five points in the final minute but that was as close as they could get falling 83-77 to the Huskies.
Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) led the Grizzlies in scoring with 20 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth straight double-double. Vanessen currently sits 19th overall in the OCAA in scoring averaging 17.4 points-per-game and is fourth in rebounds averaging 10.6 per-contest.
Teammate Samuel Odzenma (Mississauga) also had a solid game scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds.
It was the second straight loss for Georgian and drops their season record to 4-3 as they currently sit in 5th place in the OCAA east division standings.
The Grizzlies will be back in action next Wednesday, Nov. 20 when they host the University of Toronto-Mississauga Eagles at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
