GRIZZLIES FALL TO HUMBER IN BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP OPENER
Sean Dutton and the Grizzlies battled hard but fell in their Championship opening match 88-61 to Humber on Thursday night.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team opened the 2019 belairdirect OCAA Men's Basketball Championship on Thursday night when they hosted the Humber Hawks at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies were in tough against the OCAA west division's top regular season team in the Humber Hawks.
Humber was able to get up early and the Grizzlies put up a valiant effort but were unable to catch the Hawks as they pulled away to an 88-61 victory.
Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) was named Georgian's player of the game with a 15 point performance. Teammate Anthony Meggo (Whitby) had a team-high 17 points while Nikyle Williams-McIntosh (Newmarket) had 13 points off the bench for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies will now into a consolation semi-final game against the Lambton Lions on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
Georgian College will host all of the Championship games with a full slate of four games again on Friday and the medal round on Saturday.
