SECOND QUARTER COSTS GRIZZLIES AGAINST VIKINGS
Georgian battled but couldn't recover from a 21 point deficit at half time as they fell 77-57 to St. Lawrence on Friday night in Kingston.
The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team opened up their second half of their OCAA regular season on Friday night when they travelled to take on the St. Lawrence Vikings in Kingston, ON.
It was a tough second quarter that allowed the Vikings to pull away from the Grizzlies. St. Lawrence outscored the Grizzlies 29-10 in the second frame alone and Georgian were never able to recover as the Vikings took it by a final score of 77-57.
Anthony Meggo (Whitby) led the Grizzlies in scoring with 17 points while teammate Jaan Bukhari (Newmarket) had the first double-double of his young career as the rookie had 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
The Grizzlies fall under .500 on the season with a 5-6 record and now sit in eighth place in the OCAA east division standings.
The division is a tight battle as the four teams ahead of Georgian in the standings only have one more win than the Grizzlies.
Georgian will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they wrap up their eastern road trip by playing the Loyalist Lancers in Belleville.
The Grizzlies will play their next home game on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie as Georgian hosts the Fleming Knights at 3 p.m.
Tickets for the game are available at the doors for $5.
